This homeowner just purchased the home a few weeks ago, and after the first rainstorm, they noticed some water in their cold storage room. They believed it was because this gutter was leaking, so they gave us a call and had us come out for a free gutter inspection. 

During the inspection, we noticed that this section, where the roof and gutter meet the wall, was missing the kickout flashing. This is a very, very important piece of the roofing system. It ensures that all the water running down the J channel and the roof in that area is being kicked into the gutter system. If this is not here, the water will run down the siding and into your foundation. 

When it is time to replace your roof, make sure you choose a roofing company that does not cut corners. This is a 2-dollar part and takes about an extra 30 seconds to install before the new roof gets installed. An extra 2-dollars and 30 seconds of work will save you thousands in future damage. 

It is much more difficult to install once the roof is already on, but it can be done, and that is what we did for this customer here.

After we installed the kickout flashing, while we had our caulking gun with us, we did a quick roof inspection and sealed up a few vulnerable areas for free.
